19 year old Harry Foxx is a singer-songwriter from Essex. With a vintage timbre to his vocal, combined with contemporary soul production, Harry Foxx is quickly attracting a lot of attention, and enticing inquisitive ears throughout the industry.
Performing from the time he was a toddler, Harry’s first musical outlet was discovered from behind a drum kit. Describing it as being “the coolest instrument [he] could find at the time”, it was predominantly Harry’s vocal that was getting noticed. Stepping out from behind the drums, Harry began singing wherever possible – joining several bands during his time at school and gigging at local pubs to satisfy a his performance cravings.
Referring to his family as “not particularly musical by any means”, Harry does attribute his musical influences to the records he was exposed to growing up. “Motown doesn’t quite encompass everything that I was listening to, but gives you an idea of the sound of my household”. Aside from Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye, Harry rattles off names including Donny Hathaway and James Brown as distinct influences on his style and musical direction.
In 2014 London-based management company Gravity MGMT approached Harry after seeing him perform a cover of James Blake’s Retrograde on YouTube. Heading into the studio with Kid Harpoon (Florence + The Machine, Jessie Ware), TMS (Emeli Sande, Olly Murs), Jimmy Hogarth (Amy Winehouse, Paolo Nutini), and many others, Harry’s repertoire started to develop rapidly. Further doors were unlocked when, in September of 2015, Harry signed his publishing deal with the legendary duo Tim Blacksmith & Danny D at Stellar Songs (home to Emeli Sande and Sam Smith).
With an ever-developing range of tracks, and a formidable team forming around him, the spark of Harry’s career is just about ignite.
